Outdoor Learning

Second-graders visited the Chicago Botanic Garden recently as seen in these photos to explore the Surprising Seed Workshop. In this hands-on experience, students learned how plants can grow in places where no one planned for them to be. They studied seed structures, compared how different seeds work, and tested creative ways seeds travel through wind, water, and animals.

After the workshop, the students toured several gardens, noticing how seeds play an essential role in every landscape. The visit gave them a chance to connect science with the beauty of nature and sparked curiosity about how tiny seeds can grow into something much bigger. Enjoy some of the photos of students touring the garden.
